Ludlow Press Poetry
Arcs, Angles, and
Rhythms
Our words were sliced in two
by unannounced whistles
of fast-moving freights
streaking night rails on to Dallas.
Our poems lay fractured
in shadows of the days
when passengers came and went
at country stops like this.
Its quaint red brick in-tact,
the depot
lures painters and poets alike.
Arcs and angles in oil
transform waiting walls
to galleries.
And kiln-fired clay,
whose yellow bisects blue,
lines wooden shelves
and takes the place of baggage.
An All-Aboard! era
replaced by one adorned,
where the magic of artists
intermingles words with color.
