Let The Poem Be

Let the poem be
A festering intent
That leaves no trace
Of pain or scar.

Let the poem be
A sacred hum
That heals the sick
And wakes up the dead.

Let the poem be
A stone of grief
Heavier than
The memory of rocks.

Let the poem be
A mountain of love
Lighter than
Sleep's pumice stone.

Let the poem be
A mustard speck
Sown and nurtured
In the mind's eye.

Let the poem be
A mirage exhaling
The haunting fragrance
Of a ghostly flower.

Let the poem be
A leafy nuance
Anchored upon
The heart's quaking ground.

Let the poem be
A slimy creeper
Gazing humbly at
The heaven of hope.

Let the poem be
An eyeless omen
Mining for dark secrets
And gleaming symbols.

Let the poem be
A wounded tiger
Bleating like
A lost lamb.

Let the poem be
A whorled ear
Whispering tales
Of the deep.

Let the poem be
A mossy trapdoor
Opening with art,
Flaunting its nacre.

Let the poem be
A monstrous spout
Submerged in
The ocean of silence.

Let the poem be
A winged neigh
Circling the fabled
Space of pure being.

Let the poem be
A virgin syllable
Taming a one-horned
Equine word.

Let the poem be
Eve conceiving
Cain in the dark
To bring forth light.

Let the poem be
A blinding miracle
Shining upon
The dawn of faith.

Let the poem be
A celestial silver
Charm bewitching
Lovers and lunatics.

Let the poem be
A flame-tailed nightmare
Streaking across
The face of midnight.

Let the poem be
A flashing forked tongue
With a booming
Tail of thunder.

Let the poem be
That calm center,
The huge vacuum-eye
Of a quiet rage.

Let the poem be
A sudden downpour
Of acid tears
Wetter than water.

Let the poem be
A seven-splendor
Bridge spanning sense
And muted music.

Let the poem be
The mouth of prophecy
Auguring the future
Tense of speech.

Let the poem be
A wanderlust wind
Trespassing the borders
Of time and space.

Let the poem be
An epic cloud in
The sky of forever.
Let the poem be.
